      How do I set up product material usage in ShopStats.ai?

      Learn how to use the Product Material Wizard to accurately track material usage for your products.

      ShopStats.ai provides an intuitive wizard to help you set up and manage material usage for your products. This guide will walk you through using the Product Material Wizard.

      1. Accessing the Product Material Wizard

      You can access this wizard from the Product Record:

      • Navigate to a specific product's record page.
      • Find the "Materials" tab or section.
      • Find the Material you wish to edit.
      • Select the "pencil" icon to open Material options.
      • Select "Set Material Usage" to open the Product Material Wizard.

      2. Using the Product Material Wizard

      This wizard helps you add or edit material usage for a specific product.

      • Introduction
        • The wizard provides an overview of its purpose and how the information will be used.
      • Quantity Used
        • Specify how much of the material is used for one product.
        • Choose between percentage or units.
        • Enter the amount used.
      • Total Units (if applicable)
        • If you're using units (not percentage), specify the total units in the entire material purchase.
      • Material Waste
        • Enter the amount of material that is wasted during production.
        • This can be entered as a percentage or specific quantity, matching your choice in the Quantity Used step.
      • Review & Confirm
        • Double-check all the information before saving.

      3. Understanding Percentage vs. Quantity

      • Percentage: Use this when the material is measured as a portion of the whole (e.g., 25% of the total material is used per product).
      • Quantity: Use this when you have specific measurements (e.g., 2 yards of fabric per product).

      4. Calculating Waste

      • Waste is the amount of material that cannot be used in more of the same product.
      • Enter the waste amount in the same unit (percentage or quantity) as you entered the quantity used.
      • It's important to track waste for accurate cost calculations and inventory management.

      Tip: Regularly review and update your product-material associations to ensure accurate inventory tracking and cost calculations.

      Note: On mobile devices, the wizard displays a simplified step indicator and adjusts the layout for better usability on smaller screens.

      Warning: Ensure you save your changes before navigating away from the wizard to prevent loss of data.
